Oh, what a dreadfully cold day today! A serious Frostyday! You know those kinds when no one would dare to venture outside? It’s a delicious stay-at-home-day! Cozy, for the warmth of your house, your nest or cave, or your loved one’s embrace, if you’re lucky enough, that is. Well, He isn’t and He is outside. A hungry wolf in winter. And he has to eat.
He’ll hunt down some poor soul lost in the snow, and that would be it.
But that won’t be a rabbit. Our wolf had a far too refined palette for the likes of bunny flesh, you know?
He is warmer than the cold in his wolven coat but his toe beans are covered in ice! He slips once, slides twice, then stands still, frozen with fear. If he continues, it might end up badly, right? Wrong! He is the hero of our story and he’s not going anywhere! Realizing this, he takes a brave step forward.
“Oh, lookie here! What an easy prey!, he said “No need to stalk, or sneak, or sway!”“But how did she end up in this frosty brig? ...and what was she doing with this heavy twig?”
He bares his fangs and gets close to the creature. But something completely unexpected happened, for his teeth started to uncontrollably shiver and jitter! He closes his eyes and lets out a sigh to welcome the flood of memories.
One Frostywinter, not unlike this one, He was hunting for days to find naught but snow until he finally collapsed from hunger.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a rabbit appeared! White as hope, as he was clutching a twig of red berries.
The bunny soon realized that the wolf was no threat to him. This had him relieved but also so incredibly sad. He understood that the collapsed predator needed food more than him. The bunny forced all his courage to his feet and hopped all the way to the Frostywolf’s nose, leaving the fruit and almost his heart there. He disappeared as swiftly as he appeared. After all, rabbits are wolves’ favorite prey. An act of kindness and our Wolf was saved. He opens his eyes. “I swear on every living rabbit
Not to feast on this bird, away with the habit!”
He takes her gently with his jaws and runs for the hills.
“Don’t be afraid, little Frostybird!
With my fur here, you’ll be cured!”“What happened? Where am I?“
”Is this a cave?!”
“You must be either foolish or so very brave!”“It’s a beast! A beast! A beast!!!”
“Please let me explain it, at the very least!”, He said, “You collapsed on the snow, I’ll not eat you, I swear!”“Then you’re a strange wolf, in your strange wolf’s lair!
But I’m afraid I will be late
to feed my family, empty is their plate..."
“Let me take you there,
No need for a cab fair!”Here goes the proud Wolf with the blackbird
singing songs of thanks on his back!
Only shortly after, they are welcome to her black-plumed flock with winged hugs and gawking beaks. And everybody rejoiced with a vegetarian meal!
“Hey, Frostybird, you’re safe now,
I’m gonna depart.“But first, pray tell,
to whom do I owe the mercy of your wolven heart?”
“Thank all the rabbits of the forest,
They taught me kindness without any warrant.
Nature is often cruel so I don’t need to be,
I’ll help when I can, would you do the same for me?”
NATURE.
